A book many people skip because of long lists of names, provides some very exciting chapters. Narrowing viewpoint of Israel produced discontent and their judgment by sight led to panic. God shoved his patience, brought them back to Kadesh-Barnea, and gave them a new attitude toward opportunity. We fail because of mixed motives & mixed multitudes. Great pictures of Christ: Smitten Rock, 20:7; Brazen Serpent, 21:6; and Cities of Refuge, 35, The great sin is murmuring, 7 The evil report of the spies cost Israel 40 years wandering. They had faith to trust in the blood of the Passover and leave Egypt but not enough faith to enter the Promised Land until they had received 40 years training. The song would be "This world is not my home - I'm just passing through" but Israel sang "The Desert Blues."
