TIME FOR MY ANNUAL "PREP FOR DISASTER" SERMON - THE Y 2 K MATTER - GREAT MANY IDEAS, FRUSTRATION

When I'm wrong, rejoice .... someday I will be right!

• Bible- II Cor 4:18- troubles in life- so look on eternal things- good advice any time- esp. Now
• I was in Civil Defense -Cuban Missile crisis- nothing like this time- wide spread concern-
• If you have studied history, faced mob violence, watched Hollywood, read Bible & believe it--you know that sooner or later- Our nation will join others - facing catastrophe

I.- FOR WE KNOW - II Cor. 5:1  Our post-Christian culture says we can't know nothing- deliberately blind - just feelings- lusts

A. "THAT IF THE EARTHLY HOUSE OF THIS TABERNACLE BE DISSOLVED" - (IF is 1st class- certain to be)

• Heb 9:27  "appointed...to die" This appointment not known to you- but you will keep 41
• "dissolved"- back to dust, cremated, cancer, new Staff germ, Nuclear, car accident, road rage, bullet, age?
• Just as no one lives forever, no city, state, nation, culture -endures forever - Ancient Rome? Babylon? England?

B.- YOU MIGHT WANT TO KNOW WHEN WILL THIS EARTHLY HOUSE BE DISOLVED - THE EXACT TIME - INSURANCE

• Bible gives end time prophecy- but great men differ- Rapture, Armageddon, FIRE, new earth, -Etc.
• Science & Media -DANGER: -"The Quickening"- Storms, Quakes, Floods, Volcanoes, Plagues, Sun Spots, Meteors
• And Mankind helps out nature -road rage, riots, terrorism, wars, Nuke, chemical, bacteriological, local crime

C.- "WE HAVE A BUILDING OF GOD, AN HOUSE, NOT MADE WITH HANDS, ETERNAL IN THE HEAVENS" -II Cor 5:11

• I like John 14:1-3- Jesus gave us a promise- He will come back for us! I believe it: Study it!
• Death still has its sting -I have faced it - II Tim 1:7- not fear but sound mind, power & love!

II.- "FOR IN THIS WE GROAN" II Cor 5:2a  Saved, sanctified, on my way to Glory - but still I hurt, groan under load, & walk circumspectly!

A.- I'M NOT IN HEAVEN YET, AND ANY SUFFERING, INJUSTICE, INJURY, MISSUNDERSTANDING - HURTS A LOT!

• I rejoice each sunrise- The Lord's day- but my ministry reaches out to those suffering- & me too
• Once in a while history catches up with us- My old age, or our country's sin, or Y2K
• God has blessed us- Christian America= Freedom! -Then Electric power- & transistor chips

B.- BUT MEN CANNOT WALK LONG WITH GOD WITHOUT BACKSLIDING - & OUR INVENTIONS EVOLVE, & FAIL!

• We have ELECTRIC lights- so forgot Light of World; Punch cards, early chips, shorthand, codes-
• People forgot that chips last -& programmed them wrong! a year has 2 numerals, can't read 2000
• With millions of chips- embedded logic systems -power plants, circuit breakers on poles, Satellites

C.- WE HAVE BEEN GIVEN WARNING. AND INDUSTRY & GOVERNMENTS-HAVE-SPENT-BILLIONS ---COMPLIANCE?

• But Bible -End of our age, Tribulation- draws near -check Geneva Bible- 1560, I Thess. 5:2, Day
• Several trip wires in Computers - see list many different times - so watch for them
• But I am also worried about World Peace- A Russian & Chinese Nuke before their Y2K failure!

I believe America is doomed because of Major sin! - & I Cor 16:22 fits & I say AMEN.

III.-"WHEREFORE WE LABOUR" II Cor 5:9  - So live- that-you are ready to die! YOU have no guarantee of tomorrow! Walk by faith- but WALK!

A.- WORK, AND PLAN FOR YOUR PHYSICAL SURVIVAL, ARRANGE FOR THE NEEDS OF YOURSELF & YOUR FAMILY

• I taught my kids - lay up for emergency! -save on hand a month's income, like the ant! Gold?
• Also-If Elect. &Water goes off! -Food, water, medicine - tools for survival-small shovel, tools
• Organize family & neighborhood for defense- mob violence! -arms & ammunition & know-how!

B.- WORK FOR AND PLAN FOR YOUR SOUL, AND IN THIS WORLD A SOCIAL SURVIVAL! DON'T BE ALONE

• Build a network of Friends, Relatives,- the Church Family, people YOU can count on & trust!
• Develop a 'Survivor Attitude" - prepare to defend your neighborhood-without police, firemen, etc.

C.- WORK AND PLAN FOR YOUR SPIRITUAL SURVIVAL, FOR IN THE LIGHT OF HISTORY, ETERNITY IS REAL!

• II Cor 13:5 Examine yourself- faith"? - John 3:1605 - Do YOU know, have assurance of Jesus?
• Clean up your life- live in practical Christianity- II Cor 5:9b-"accepted of Him"
• If you really care for anyone else - bring them to Jesus Christ too! A saved Soul!

YOU are responsible to figure out for yourself what you should do- Materials available -  Hab 3:16-18 -Though nation perishes- yet will I will joy in the God of my Salvation - Job 13:15- Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him"- look at Eternity's values!

WILL AMERICA HAVE A REVIVAL, OR WILL OUR WAY OF LIFE PERISH? WILL WE DIE OF FRIGHT, OR ??

II Tim 1:7 -God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, lore, & sound mind!
II Cor 2:18-Who is sufficient for these things - 3:17 For we are, 3:5 sufficiency is of God!

• If you do not KNOW Jesus Christ as your Saviour- Will YOU come and accept Him - now?
• If you need an enlarged family that means business- will you come and join this church-
• Will you prepare yourself and your family to be a blessing to others in the face of Y2K ?
