OUR AGE IS TAKING ANOTHER LOOK AT THE STORY OF "CHICKEN LITTLE", THE SKY IS FALLING

• The Liberal Establishment is scared nuclear, population explosion- just mention Wallace.
• The Fundamental Bible Believers scared of miniskirts, morals, crime, - say Humphrey Elected.
• But as bad as things are- they will get worse!  We need men like I Chron 12:32,33

"Understand the times, know what to do, & keep rank, not double-hearted" - Know the Bible

I. GOD'S WORD DESCRIBES THE LAST DAYS II Tim 3:1-9

There is no excuse for ignorance, or surprise, or being unprepared for the fight- See the Bible

A. "KNOW THAT IN THE LAST DAYS PERILOUS TIMES SHALL COME" v.1

• In II Tim 2 great hope, vision of strength and victory, promise of recovery, BUT!
• Many places in the Bible tell the same story- II Tim 3:1-9; Matt 24,25; Ezek 38,39; Dan; Zeph; Rev.
• The picture is that of man against man in total depravity, where man goes without God

B. "HAVING A FORM OF GODLINESS," WITH MAKE-BELIEVE PIETY - Weymouth Version v.5

• Diana presented a religion of sensuous, the (illegible)izers of legalism, both equally dead
• The picture of v.6 is not necessarily se(illegible)n, but spiritualisms - gullible for isms
• The power they denied was the power of spirit, of Love, & Sound Mind- 1:7 -over sin

C. "EVER LEARNING, AND NEVER ABLE TO COME TO THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUTH" v.7

• Ephesus was a city of great commerce, caravan head for the interior of Asia- great wealth
• Its buildings, and great civil government, showed a great culture, education, learning
• But the hub city of the Greek & Roman Empires & many left Christ for intellectualism - dead

Vs.9 - Thank God for the Checking power of Holy Spirit that leads to revival, 2 Thes 2

II. GOD'S WORD DOES DESCRIBE TODAY

Some may doubt that the Bible does reach 2,000 years to describe our day- stop & consider

A. THE DECAY OF MEN, THE PICTURE OF MAN AGAINST MAN, FORSAKING GREATNESS FOR CHAOS

• We have more helps to build health and character, but less health and character v.2-4
• Walk the streets of Phoenix and read these verses- & ours is one of the best cities in America
• The earth rebels with earthquakes, pestilences, famines, wars, death & violence - accidents

B. THE DECAY OF RELIGION, THE PITURE OF RELIGIOUS PEOPLE LEADING IN SIN* GOD IS DEAD TO MANY

• Great denominations have gone modernistic- socialistic, humanistic, lured to death
• The rich, fashionable- sects- like Moral Rearmament- group confessions- falls into lust
• Fundamentalists withdraw into their shell of pretended spirituality, miss honesty, integrity

C. THE DECAY OF EDUCATION, PROMISING THE ANSWER TO EVERYTHING, BUT MISSING THE TRUTH

• It is our educators that through much study brought us the fact - there is no truth!
• Great scientific advance, but unable to make better men, no discipline in Spock Babies
• We conquer outer space, lose inner space; more churches, less godliness; more schools, less wisdom

Thank God for the promises that not one of His children lost- John 6:37-40

III. GOD'S WORD TELLS US WHAT TO DO  II Tim 3:10-17

God's plan in history is certain, and the Christian has a part in it that is worthwhile

A. "CONTINUE IN WHAT YOU HAVE BEEN TAUGHT" v.14 THERE ARE PRINCIPLES THAT WILL WORK TODAY!

• You know what I have taught you, and you know me - v.10 my life is open before you-
• These are desperate times; do not let some new-fangled ism turn you from truth- v.12,13
• Not only continue right, but v.2:2, help me teach others also to be true to God

B. SCRIPTURES ARE ABLE TO MAKE THEE WISE UNTO SALVATION THROUGH FAITH IN JESUS v.15

• The Bible points you to Jesus Christ, and offers you eternal salvation from your sin!
• A knowledge of the Bible, led by Spirit will save you from the circumstances of last days- I Tim 4
• But the scripture way takes faith, and plenty of hard work- Bible Study & Prayer is work

C. IF YOU WOULD BE FULLY EQUIPPED TO MEET THE CRISIS OF THE HOUR, USE THE SCRIPTURE WELL v.16-17

• Every Scripture (used only of God's Word) is inspired (In breathed) and from God
• The application of the Scriptures to your life will give you wisdom, strength, & character
• Use the Scripture right, and you will be "ready to do every good work" v.17b

Nothing man offers has security- church, state, education- all will fail, God won't.

IN THE FACE OF TODAY'S TERROROZING, AND BRAINWASHING TIMES, TRUST & WALK WITH GOD

• The God who saw all this ahead of times, also knows how to save you- trust Jesus
• The Lord who saw into hearts then knows just how heavy your Cross is today, trust Him.
• If you would escape from the quicksand of today's world, cling to Christ, the Solid Rock.
