I. On the understanding of prophecy

A. Desire to know future is in all minds
B. Prophets spoke as were moved by the Holy Spirit; some did not understand what they spoke,
C. The Old Testament prophets wrote by the Will of God, not asked of men.

1. The Holy Spirit was the moving principle in the prophecy
2. The unique origin assures harmony of concepts, thoughts.
3. The Prophets had to speak! Amos 3:8

D. All prophecy centers around one Person - Christ - Luke 24:44 - Also when John bowed to worship an angel that way, teaching him the angel said, Rev. 19:10
E. There are more prophecies concerning His second coming that His first!

II. Prophecies concerning Christ's first coming

As The Son of God Ps.2:7 - Luke 1:30
As The Seed of woman Gen 3:15 - Gal 4:4
As The Seed of Abraham Gen 22:18 - Gal 3:16
Born of a Virgin Isa 7:14,15 - Matt 1:18
Born in Bethlehem Mica 5:2 - Matt 2:1

III. Conclusions

1. The man Jesus is the One spoken of by the prophets
2. He was born in Bethlehem of the virgin Mary - as far as men's records are concerned, but actually "His goings forth have been from old, from everlasting."
