ZECHARIAH WAS A YOUNG PREACHER, DYNAMIC, POWERUL - TO RESTORE A DROPPING FAITH AND VISION

• Zechariah was trying to get them to rebuild the temple during hard days of discouragement.
• He pointed to a time when their Messiah would rule, there would be peace and holiness in the land.
• But there are yet many conflicts - terrible wars - great suffering - before their dreams realized.

But they were thrilled at the vision of victory - sure of the Messiah - had a blessed hope.

LET'S HAVE A LOOK AT JERUSALEM

Thank you for the trip - let's use the projector to stimulate your mind through the eye gate!

JERUSALEM AS IT IS NOW, A BEAUTIFUL CITY, FULL OF TREASURES OF MEMORY AND PROMISES OF HOPE

• (Slides shown and separate notes used)  The city is peaceful only because of the police and military.
• The Jews, Muslims, and Christians are mostly filled with false hopes - and many show it.
• The United Nations is powerless to bring or enforce any peace - sits on top of Hill of Evil Council!

WE NEED TO TAKE A LOOK AT JERUSALEM THROUGHOUT HISTORY; THE CITY OF PEACE - NEVER HAS BEEN!

• (Distribute duplicated outline of "The Conquests of Jerusalem, the City of Peace")
• To call it the city of Peace is a prayer.  It shows faith, hope - but not truth!
• Zech 12:3 speaks of it as a grinding stone - for PEOPLE - and Sadat of Egypt says WAR now!

WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD FOR JEURSALEM?  UNTIL JESUS COMES, NOTHING BUT WAR AND CONFLICT!

• Zech 13:8 tells of 2/3^rds of the people of Palestine being killed, 1/3 remnant being left alive
• Zech 14:1,2 pictures the conflict in Jerusalem - 1/2 of city carried away captive!  When?
• The Bible describes at least four more onslaughts against the city - Cf "Jerusalem" - yet to come

We may see the first of these starting TODAY - Not "IF", but "WHEN" will Egypt attack?

JERUSALEM WHEN JESUS COMES - ZECH 13, 14

The hope of Israel, of the Church, the dream of the world leaders - the Millennium - will come

"BEHOLD, THE DAY OF THE LORD COMETH!" - ZECH 14:1

• The Jews will see Jesus - and become the world's greatest Christian evangelists- 13:6. 12:10
• Jesus will return, and fight - the Prince of Peace will come with a sword - Zech 14:3, Rev 19:11-
• He will judge the sheep and goat nations - Matt 25:32, and will establish His throne - Rev. 20:4

THROUGH HIS JUDGMENT, THERE WILL BE GREAT TRAVAIL, THEN WILL COME NEW LIFE - ZECH 14:4

• When His feet touch the Mount of Olives, it will split (under judgement - broken hearts needed)
• The split will provide a way for the Jews to escape - v.5 - this time to Petra?  (What of you?)
• There is no real salvation without judgment and repentance - and through this is provided escape.

IN THAT DAY, LIVING WATERS WILL GO OUT FROM JERUSALEM - ZECH 14:8

• The year-round spring of water will bring life to the desert area - and to you if you drink His.
• Peace and life are precious and desired, but you have no hope to wait until then to be saved.
• Jerusalem will then be the center of a great flat plain - Zech 14:10 - like Phoenix -

AND THE LORD SHALL BE KING OVER ALL THE EARTH - ZECH 14:9

• One Lord, over all the earth - the Kingdom of David, a 1,000 year reign on earth!
• V.11 men shall dwell there - men with natural sins, but under perfect government world-wide.
• There will be no more destruction, no more war (for the 1,000 years) and safety in Jerusalem -

THERE WILL THEN BE HOLINESS UNTO THE LORD, OR INSTANTANEOUS JUDGMENT

• The world will come up regularly to Jerusalem to worship the Lord - 14:16
• Those who do not come and worship, who do not obey Him, will be punished right then - Zech 14:17,18

During this time, the Sermon On The Mount will be the law of the land, and obeyed!

JERUSALEM CALLED "THE NEW JERUSALEM" IN ETERNITY - REV. 21:10

• No sea v.1, no tears v:4, suspended city - v.10, no darkness - v.23,24, no sin v.27
• Pure river of life - 22:1, trees for healing of nations - v.2, no curse v.3

BUT THE ONLY ONES IN THE WORLD, IN THIS NEW CITY, ARE THOSE IN THE LAMB'S BOOK OF LIFE - REV. 21:27

• Whether or not you have peace or war today matter little!  Your power or weakness - same!
• The only thing  Jesus told us to rejoice in is - Luke 10:20 - names written in heaven.
• Is your name written down in the Lamb's Book of Life?  Only way is through Jesus!

THE FUTURE OF THE CITY OF JERUSALEM WILL AFFECT THE WORLDS, AND WAR IS IMMINENT!

• Accept Christ NOW, so that you can have the blessed hope to see you through life's troubles!
• Live for Christ - repent of your sin, obey Christs, clean up your life- time is short!
• No matter how rough things seem - remember Zechariah - live in hope, but not false hope!
