Introduction- THE CROWN OF ONE OF THE GRANDEST PASSAGES OF GOD'S WORD, "DO ALL IN THE NAME OF JESUS"

1. The only way of Prayer to God is through the name of His Son- Jesus Christ- no other name!
2. The only way of life is to "DO ALL in the name of the Lord Jesus" there is no other joy way
3. The effervescent way of life belongs to the Christian, -but unfortunately the Devil has stolen some of the tools- and we are so dead as to let him do it-

I.- THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS Col 3:17

The central theme of the Book - In Jesus dwelleth the fullness of Godhead- 2:9, our joy-

A.- THE HIGHEST MOTIVE FOR THE HUMAN LIFE" WHATSOEVER YE DO, DO ALL "WORD OR DEED" - 17a

1. Survey Col 3:1-22- v. 17 is the crown of this great chapter
2. Note that the actions of life are to be done in name of Lord Jesus- the Human name -
3. Jesus was on earth, suffering the same temptations, and trials that you face-

B.- "DO ALL IN THE NAME OF THE LORD JESUS" 17b NOTE THAT IT SAYS "ALL"

1. Bring every thought and deed into captivity- and give it to Jesus as your LORD
2. 1 Cor 10:31 "Eat or Drink - do all to the glory of God" would save a lot of trouble & sin
3. The Puritans gave to the world a heritage- not of thought- but of Action!

C.- "GIVING THANKS TO GOD THE FATHER BY HIM 17c The motto of all prayer-

1. What ever the hard work, sacrifice, service, -Give thanks to God -"by him" -
2. If you cannot thank God for a deed - or word- then it is probably a sin! No better litmus
3. Action & activity may lead to evil- but inactivity can never be led to good!

Give me people who will "Do Things" and placed in Christ- will bring happiness!

II.- "AND DO IT HEARTILY" v.23

Action gives life its strength, and moderation its charm- Activity is God's medicine

A.- "DO IT" (G. Poieo) Denotes an action complete in itself, - in active voice- YOU do it

1. Paul uses Prasso* gr. for an evil habit- and we do evil by habit -habitually -
2. He uses Poteo* for the single act of greatness- deliberate, determined, by our own choice
3. Jerry Rubin "Do It"- a dare to do evil- dope, sex- even KILL YOUR PARENTS, Burn down school, he stole the Daring- Have this daring for God! Do It - If wrong you can see it; right- rejoice

B.- DO IT HEARTILY " -23b with real heart, gusto, enthusiasm -spasm- (God in you)

1. I wish you could attend a Rock Festival- Woodstock had its blood & death-but something else!
2. We need the enthusiasm- forcefulness- daring to do- idealism- but put it all for god.
3. We have heard little about the resolutions of the Apostles- but lots about their Acts!

C.- DO IT AS TO THE LORD AND NOT UNTO MEN - Too many work as Men Pleasers- Eph 6:6-8

1. The wild ones are stimulated to acts of daring & death because they are trying to please men
2. We should have acts of daring and life-because we want to please the Lord -dare to do!

Do you know something you should do for the Lord that makes you scared? Then DO IT!

III.- FOR YE SERVE THE LORD CHRIST

We serve and walk with a Living Lord- The dare to live "In His Steps"- by Sheldon-

A.- KNOWING THAT OF THE LORD YE SHALL RECEIVE THE REWARD OF THE INHERITANCE -24a

1. Most of the Lord's parables were told concerning a returning Lord- expecting work done
2. If you want human motivation- know that the Lord is coming- to reward- & great rewards
3. But do not think you can work your way into an inheritance- you must be born again!

B.- FOR YE SERVE THE LORD CHRIST v.24b

1. Note the difference- Do all in the name of the Lord Jesus- the human Lord- copy him
2. But now it is Christ- the divine name- the coming JUDGE! HE IS GOD, NOT FOOLED AROUND WITH
3. There is no greater master than God- Like a Knight of old- he is your King- serve him Loyalty

C.- BUT HE THAT DOETH WRONG SHALL RECIEVE FOR THE WRONG WHICH HE HATH DONE - v. 25

1. Many Christians flitter away their lives- doing nothing, daring nothing,-they are nothing
2. But worse than nothing- what is this reward for doing wrong? The "No Tears in Heaven" -late
3. "On earth "-Sophocles said- "Heaven will never help a man who will not act"

What have you done for Jesus?

Conclusion- IF YOU ARE ALIVE, GOD EXPECTS YOU TO BE A DOER OF THE WORD, AND NOT A HEARER ONLY - James 1:22
