Introduction- HABAKKUK WAS COMMANDED BY GOD TO MAKE THE GOSPEL PLAIN TRANSISTORIZED GOSPEL

I.- HABAKKUK WAITED FOR A PLAIN MESSAGE

Habakkuk was bothered- his sight showed him things that shouldn't be, so he asked God why?

A.- THIS PROPHET TOOK HIS BURDEN AND DOUBT TO THE LORD - some spread their doubts all over nation

1. He went into his Watch-tower- a place of prayer! Do you have a place of prayer? Habit? 1a
2. He waited for God's message- God has a message, he knew it, and was patient in waiting - 1b
3. He expected God to reproof sin, His eyes & belief did not balance- & expected the blame on self - we are quick to blame others

B.- THE PROPHET RECEIVED HIS INSTRUCTION, AND IT WAS TO BE MADE PLAIN

1. "The Lord answered... Write... make it plain." 2:2 God's word is not hard- you can read it yourself
2. "that he may run that readeth it. "-message would demand urgency- run with the good news of salvation
3. How are you running? Have you read & understood? or are you hindered by sin- Heb 12:1,2

C.-THE PROPHET RECEIVED A TIME CLAUSE, AND THIS IS THE ELEMENT NECESSARY TO THE MESSAGE -Hab 2:3

1. God had set a time - Dan 10:14 "In the latter days" - God does not rush His action-but certain
2. God had set a time for Christ to come -Dan 9:25 and his 2nd coming- Heb 10:37- "Yet a little while
3. God has set a time for you to be saved- and this might be your last time to hear the Gospel

The delay of deliverance divides men into two groups- saved and lost! Very Plain!

II.- THE SOUL THAT IS LIFTED UP IS NOT RIGHT Hab 2:4a

Here is a picture of a man that cannot see his own sin- whose heart lies to himself-many ways

A.-THE GREATEST SIN OF ALL ETERNITY IS LISTED HERE, "THE SOUL WHICH IS LIFTED UP" PRIDE OF HEART

1. It is natural for us to have this sin of Pride- after all our first father fell for this sin
2. Pride takes many shapes- Note man's urban renewal program - 5 woes of Hab 2- & man still failing
3. No matter what great things man attempts- Pride will always destroy his greatness & his sins

B.- WHO IS THIS MAN WHOSE SOUL IS LIFTED UP? WHAT IS THE CAUSE OF A MAN LIFTING HANDS AGAINST GOD?

1. Then they looked at the Assyrian, later the Chaldean- the arrogant, demanding, oppressors
2. Later it was the Jews themselves- typified by the Scribes and Pharisees- Luke 18:11-12 - Publicans & sinners
3. Today the "lifted up soul" is anyone whose heart is not humbly repentant before God

C.- THE PENALTY OF THE SINFUL ATTITUDE - "HIS SOUL IS NOT UPRIGHT WITHIN HIM" Hab 2:4

1. This one is crooked- he does not want the truth, nor the light, nor anything showing his sin
2. He does not have the patience to wait for God's answer-he wants his own way right now!
3. When God tries to deal with such a person- he stiffens his neck- & rebels- Prov 29:1 - destruction

Though there are a lot of people like this- there are also a lot of people waiting to hear

III.- THE JUST SHALL LIVE BY HIS FAITH" Hab 2:4b

The Transistorized Gospel- the spark of all reformations- the gospel simple enough to understand

A.- IT IS FAITH THAT MAKES A MAN JUST BEFORE GOD, FAITH IS BELIEVING IN GOD, AND IN WHAT GOD SAYS

1. Just as pride is the first step toward Hell, Humility is the first step toward heaven-
2. A person who knows his sin, the consequences of sin, and is sorry- looks to God for help
3. Romans 3,4,5 tell us how a man is made just by faith in God- in God's plan- Rom 5:8

B.- IT IS FAITH, HOPE IN GOD'S PROVISION FOR SALVATION, THAT SUSTAINS AND KEEPS A MAN BEFORE GOD

1. In every condition- prosperity or perplexity, the man of God lives by faith- rich or poor!
2. In every age- Child, Teens, Adult, Pensioner- all live by faith in God's provision & plan
3. The believer is confident- not in himself, but in God, & in God's word- Heb 11:1,6

C.- THIS VERSE IS FOUND IN BIBLE 4 TIMES HAB 2:4 -How to live while waiting to see God's Hand of Salvation

1. Rom 1:17- emphasizes the power of God to save the believer from the corruption of the world
2. Gal 3:11- emphasizes that the power is of God, not of our own strength to save & justify us
3. Heb 10:38- emphasizes that faith sustains and preserves & preservers-does not cease to believe

Lam 3:26 "It is good that a man would both hope and quietly wait for salvation of the Lord"

Conclusion- UNLESS YOU REACH OUT TO LIVE BY FAITH, YOU WILL BE REACHED BY FLAMES OF HELL - NOW & LATER

1. Do you believe that Jesus is the Christ-died for your sin-? Declare it- Accept Christ now.
2. Do you believe that Christ's church is here to teach His word plainly- Join it, Help it!
3. Do you believe that God has a plan for your life- Search it our, live it by faith- Preach it.
