THE GREAT DOOMSDAY LOOMS NEARER WITH EVERY BEAT OF OUR WORLD'S HEART, HEARD BY ALL MEN

Men run and hide when a preacher begins to talk of the end of the world- scoffing
But men in every field of the world today are predicting disaster - Ecologists-scientists-
Before we die of heart failure before the world's cry of doom- we need to look into The Book

This is a topic that separates the men from the boys - do you have faith in Scripture?

I.- A DAY OF SCOFFING - II Peter 3:1-5

Never be afraid of those who make fun of the Bible- for Peter wrote of them centuries ago

A.- WE NEED TO STIR UP OUR MINDS, IF THEY ARE PURE, THE HOLY SPIRIT WILL REMIND US OF TRUTH -v1

1. Words predicting the future have been spoken by the Holy Prophets- OT - Day of Lord!
2. The Apostles also heard the Lord speak plainly of the future- Olivet Discourse
3. The Apostles themselves spoke concerning the Apocalypse- Paul, John, Peter,

B.- BUT THE APOSTLES ALSO PREDICTED THAT A TERRIBLE TIME OF DOUBT AND APOSTACY WOULD COME V.3 1.

C.- BUT THE SCRIPTURES SAY THAT THE SCOFFERS ARE WILLINGLY IGNORANT OF ETERNAL TRUTHS v.4-5 1.

II. A DAY OF BURNING

God works everything by His eternal plan-

A.- THE WORLD IN THE PAST WAS DESTROYED BY A FLOOD - Cf. Genesis - 6-7

1. Flood promised- & scoffed at- Gen 6
2. Flood arrived- no more scoffing Gen 7
3. God promised to never again destroy world with water- Gen 9:6-8 11-13

B.- THE SAME GOD THAT PLANNED THE FLOOD HAS PLANNED AND ANNOUNCED DESTRUCTION BY FIRE!

1. The World is Reserved unto fire- has an appointment-
2. Scientists talk of a super-nova- & world quakes, but let prophet of God speak-& they laugh
3. The ignorance of the scoffers is answered in scriptures- of Timothian theory- day- 1000 v.8

C.- GOD DECLARES PLAINLY A PROPHECY SO UTTERLY IMPOSSIBLE THAT IT STAGGERS MEN'S MINDS -v.10
