NO MATTER HOW INTELLIGENT WE MIGHT BE, WE NEED TO BE REMINDED OFTEN OF THE PRECIOUS WORDS OF GOD

1. Peter wrote this second epistle to stir up the saints to remember the words of Prophets & apostles
2. We need to be reminded regularly of the simplest truths of God's Word, & of the Word itself.
3. And with the simplest matters of the Word, we need to add our Amen and Hallelujah often.

Take out your Bible, and marking pencil- check what I give you & be sure of it.

I.- MINDFUL OF THE WORDS - II Pet 3:2b

We believe in the Verbal (Words), Plenary (Fully and complete to every part) inspiration of Scripture

A.- THE WORD OF GOD WAS GIVEN IN DAYS OF OLD AS A SPOKEN WORD, DIRECT TO MEN!

1. God spoke plainly through words to Adam, Noah, Abraham, and they understood what He said
2. In Deut 5:4 the Lord spoke face to face with the people Israel- With Moses in between

B.- IT BECAME NECESSARY FOR GOD'S WORD TO BE PLACED IN WRITTEN FORM THAT MORE MIGHT HAVE IT.

1. Jeremiah sent the King the Word 36:2- and he burned it v.23, so Jeremiah rewrote it-v28
2. Jesus plainly stated that He had not come to destroy the law or prophets- Matt 5:17-19
3. It is the Scriptures that God uses to draw us to Christ- II Tim 3:15-16; I Pet 2:23,25

C.- BUT NEVER FORGET THAT IT IS THE LIVING WORD THAT IS OUR SAVIOR, AND ONLY HIM.

1. John gave the key of the Bible in John 20:31-"These written that you might believe-Jesus"
2. John's Gospel begins with the statement of the Word John 1:1 -Jesus- the Word of God!
3. So the devil tries to get us away from the Verbal inspiration- but do not allow him!

II.- MINDFUL OF THE WORDS OF THE PROPHETS 

I would survey the Books, and thus the Words of the Bible with you- take pencil & mark keys

A.- THE JEWS DIVIDED THE OLD TESTAMENT INTO THE LAW, THE PROPHETS, AND THE PSALMS (poetry)

1. The Ten Commandments- Deut 5:7-21
2. The Truth, and the Commandment- Deut 6:4,5
3. And the instruction of what to do with the Word- Deut 6:6,7

III.- MINDFUL OF THE COMMANDMENTS OF THE LORD

1. Jesus spoke plainly to Nicodemus- John 3:7- "Ye must be born again"-
2. Jesus emphasized the Great Commandment Matt 22:35-40,- Love God- and neighbor as self
3. And he gave a new commandment- John 13:34,35 Love One another with a special love
