SOME FIND GREAT CONCERN THAT SOME OF THE EVENTS OF THE LIFE OF JESUS ARE LEFT OUT OF THE BIBLE

1. There is more written about Jesus in the literature of the World than any other person or item
2. Some Devotional, Doctrinal, Historical, Fictitious events- in and out of good taste; some false
3. But there is only one Bible, and it presents not a Biography, but a Person- The Lord Jesus Christ Only One Inspired Book

The Promises of God are here- not in any other book!

I.- JOHN KNEW WHAT HE WROTE John 21:24-5

Many people write theories, daydreams, what they wish had happened, but John wrote the truth

A.- THE REASON JOHN WROTE IS "THAT WE MIGHT KNOW JESUS, AND KNOW THAT WE HAVE LIFE "

1. John 20:31- the purpose for the Gospel- Stamp it in your mind- "I, John" for Joy & Assurance
2. How do we know John wrote the Gospel- note 21:24 "This is the Disciple" - John the Beloved
3. Some argued his Hellenistic style- but the same was found in Qumran- written 150 BC -by Jews

B.- JOHN DECLARED TO US WHAT HE HAD HEARD, SEEN, LOOKED ON, AND HANDLED CONCERNING JESUS - John 1:1

1. You cannot argue with the progression of evidence shown in his Writings- serious and stable
2. A witness who had gone through these steps would truly know what he was writing about
3. And John wrote under the inspiration of God- was recognized by the early church- and now

C.- JOHN RECOGNIZED THAT ALL JESUS DID AND SAID COULD NOT BE WRITTEN, - WORLD NOT THAT BIG -v.25

1. Luke tried to write about all that Jesus began to do and teach- Acts 1:1 but just couldn't
2. We all have great curiosities- and we would never be satisfied no matter how complete His biography
3. But God saw fit to include only certain books in the Bible- these are His- Inspired Word!

We need not be ignorant of other books, but we doo need to know the difference -

II.- OF MAKING MANY BOOKS THERE IS NO END  Ecc. 12:12

Men have been able to write from the very beginning- and have left many wonderful things written

A.- EVEN DURING THE BIBLE DAYS THERE WERE MANY BOOKS BEING WRITTEN, AND SOME CONTINUE TO TODAY!

1. The Apocrypha- written by men who claimed to be apostles, -during Bible days- about Jesus-
2. The Pseudepigrapha -books written in ancient time- too absurd to be considered in cannon-
3. These may be ancient, and interesting- but dangerous- errors in doctrine, Men's wild dreams

B.- SINCE THE NEW TESTAMENT DAY THERE HAVE BEEN A HOST OF BOOKS WRITTEN ABOUT JESUS, BIBLE DAYS

1. Some are the books of new religions- The Koran, The Book of Mormon, Every new cult has one!
2. Some are to explain the life of Christ- form new denomination- Science & Health; Desire of Ages;
3. Some are to start new cults- Esp. "The Aquarius Gospel of Jesus"- ridiculous- mystical

C.- TODAY THERE IS A HOST OF BOOKS ABOUT JESUS, AND THEY MUST BE READ WITH CARE AND GOOD TASTE

1. Some good Fiction books- "The Galilean"- Big Fisherman, -etc.; even Paradise Regained!-
2. Some are just despicable -"The Lost Years Of Jesus Revealed" or "The Passover Plot"-
3. Some are really sacrilegious- Book to be filmed in Denmark -The Sex Life Of Jesus- France rejected it

There is no way you can read all the Books about Jesus - and to take time on a bad one is the worst kind of censorship- when so many good ones are wasting away on the shelf! -

III.- TURN NOT ASIDE FOR VAIN THINGS  I Sam 12:21

A Book that makes you love the Christ of the Bible more- is profitable- the others dangerous

A.- PAUL WARNED OFTEN ABOUT ALL THE FOOLISH "WISDOM" AND OLD WIVES FABLES IN HIS DAY!

1. I Tim 4:7 -"refuse profane and Old wives fables" - Written or spoken- they destroy the soul-mind
2. II Tim 2:16 "Shun profane and vain Babblings",- & I Tim 6:20- Oppositions of Science- falsely called
3. Titus 3:9 "Avoid foolish questions, genealogies, strivings about the law- etc."

B.- IT IS ONLY THE SCRIPTURES THAT ARE INSPIRED OF GOD, AND ALL WE NEED FOR FAITH & DOCTRINE

1. II Tim 3:15-16-17 and the written word shows us the living word centers on Jesus
2. Other experiences of life, books, magazines, etc.- must be kept in their place- NOT INSPIRED!
3. I would not take from you the preciousness of "Imitation of Christ"- but neither worship it.

C.- WE NEED TO SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES MORE AND MORE TO SEE WHAT THEY SAY ABOUT JESUS - COMING AGAIN -

1. I Pet 1:7b- 136- You can't see Jesus- but don't miss blessing!  Search like Bereans-
2. Our Bookstores are full today- "Late Great Planet Earth"-etc.- pick good men & read them
3. But let nothing keep you from weighing all things by the Sacred Scriptures - for they alone are profitable for the touchstone - all sufficient role of faith and practice.

FIND THE LORD JESUS CHRIST THAT IS WRITTEN ABOUT IN THE BIBLE, ACCEPT HIM, COME TO LOVE HIM!

1. The Word of God must be a part of your conversion- it alone has power as Seed of Word.
2. Make up your mind to learn what the Bible says- measure all things by its plumb line!
3. What will you do when you face Jesus - and He asks what you have done with His word?
