INTRODUCTION - WHAT SATAN COULD NOT DO DIRECTLY THROUGH FORCE, HE ATTEMPTS TO DO THROUGH SUBVERSION

• The history of subversion is easy to read, it is called the Doctrine of Balaam -Sub for hire!
• Read it well- it is hard to see when you are involved- one little step at time- See Hargis!
• The Christian has only one sure defense- The work of the Holy Spirit in guidance & help!

But the slightest compromise with His leadership- and Satan can trap you!

I. BALAAM COULD NOT WIN DIRECTLY

In the conflict between good and evil- it is a rare thing when evil can outfight the good!

A. THE ENEMY TRIED TO HIRE BALAAM TO CURSE ISRAEL, AND AS A HIRELING PROPHET HE WAS SORELY TEMPTED

1. Balaam knew the truth- Num 22:17-18, but played with idea of $ until tempted v.19
2. He went out after God told him not to- & his donkey saved him- 1st Bapt. Preacher-v. 28-9
3. They made sacrifice 23:1, 14,29 -the hireling prophet trying to claim his gold!

B.  BUT THERE WAS JUST NO WAY THAT BALAAM COULD HIRE GOD TO CURSE HIS NATION ISRAEL

1. GOD told Balaam repeatedly- that these people belonged to Him, & would be blessed- 22:12
2. God refused to allow Balaam to curse Israel- 23:19-23 Note great passages! no enchantment!
3. God even took over Balaam's mouth and pronounced a blessing- Ch 24-think how Balak felt!

C.  AMERICA, LIKE ANCIENT ISRAEL, HAS ITS ENEMIES; AND IT IS BECAUSE OF THE BLESSING OF GOD!

1. No other nation has ever been formed trusting more to the principles of God's Word & freedom!
2. Our enemies are the Anti-God, atheistic, European, Totalitarian- jealous of our blessing!
3. But there just is no way for the enemy to win- "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord"

But Satan has turned to his age old trickery- and we have about lost our soul!

II.  BALAAM ATTACKED THROUGH SUBVERSION

With the deceitful friendship, deception of infiltration, demoralization, subversion from within

A.  BALAAM LAID A COURSE OF DECEPTION, AND IT IS SPELLED OUT IN SEVERAL PLACES IN GOD'S WORD - Rev 2:14

1. No place can you find the Systematic Doctrine of Balaam- but look carefully at every mention
2. Balaam taught Balak how to snare Israel into sin- and having led her to sing to weaken her.
3. When Israel recognized Balaam, & received him- she broke rule of separation- James 4:4

B.  BALAAM TRAINED AGENTS TO GO INTO ISRAEL, AND SUBVERT HER MORALS, LEAD HER YOUNG MEN TO IDOLATRY

1. 2 Peter 2:15 describes the sin of Balaam- false priests seeking $$, love of $ root of evil
2. Num 21:16 tells of the later capture of Midianite women- trained in subversion with Ashtoreth
3. The people of Israel turned to the Sex Gods of the Moabites- Num 25:1,2,3- Joined with Baal!

C.  AMERICA HAS BEEN UNDER A SYSTEMATIC ATTACK FOR MANY YEARS TO SUBVERT OUR MORAL STRENGTH

1. The Search for the Achilles Heel- Our freedom of Speech, Bill of rights-(to do right) twisted
2. The Communists-humanists-atheists-planned an infiltration- read Program to demoralize America
3. In Labor, Education, Church, News,-now Army- Pushing New Morality- yes- even in our church

The insidious part is the double standard- Sin has rights- Righteousness has none!

III.  GOD FOUND A YOUNG MAN TO FIGHT! Num 25:

This battle is Youth's battle! Old age has the wisdom, but has been weakened- impotent!

A.  GOD PRONOUNCED A TERRIBLE JUDGEMENT, GAVE AN AWFUL PLAGUE, CALLED THE PEOPLE TO ACTION! v.4-5

1. The plague came into the camp- some 24,000 died (How many in America?) v. 9
2. God called upon the leaders of the sin to be executed- 4,5- but no record of quick action!
3. But the enemy became brazen-(we see it today) before eyes of Moses- v.6 Note-Moses did not act.

B.  IT WAS THE YOUNG PHINEHAS, GRANDSON OF AARON, THAT FINALLY TOOK UP THE ACTION 25:7,8

1. Eventually the subtle, gradual, demoralization must be stopped! by Force! -Love Demands it!
2. When Men judge themselves- God does not have to judge us! But We have lost our power!
3. YOUTH must act! Decisive, vigorous, Special way to attack subverters!  But ATTACK YOU MUST!

C.  BECAUSE PHINEHAS STOOD IN THE DEFENSE OF RIGHT GOD GAVE HIM VICTORY PEACE & PRIESTHOOD!

1. Phinehas secured for himself & his children the Priesthood- v.13. We give you a great world! what will you give yours?
2. God gave him a covenant of Peace-(a perverted word today) v.12- & his seed! Is this worth it?
3. He saved his nation! v.11b - Unless we have some new, vigorous leadership-Ours is gone!

We need the wisdom of the old, and the action of the young to fight satanic attack!

CONCLUSION - WHO IS ON THE LORD'S SIDE? ON ONE OCCASION MOSES CRIED, GIRD YOUR SWORD ON AND COME HERE!

1. The only way you can keep from becoming subverted, and killed- is to Have Christ as Savior!
2. The only way you can stand true- soldier of Cross- is to draw close to Him-full surrender! 
3. We need Warriors! Now! Will you pay the price? I cannot guide you, for like Moses-

My generation will stand and talk but your generation must act!
