INTRODUCTION - MANY OF THE ANCIENT PSALMS ARE MESSIANIC, SHOWING PICTURES OF CHRIST BEYOND UNDERSTANDING

• Psalms 8 shows the racial authority of Christ, as the Son of Man- leading man to perfection-
• There is great praise to God for the glories of creation- & its crown- MAN- God's workmanship
• The great question- v.4a - may have been the reason that this Psalm was left on the moon

Our space men have been Christians- blackout on moon for Communion, prayer

I. THE GOSPEL OP THE STARS - Psa 8:1-3

There is no way that we can exhaust the praise that is due to God, language not capable

A.  GOD HAS SET HIS GLORY IN EVERY PART OF HIS CREATION - Psa 8:1

1. From the earth-(snow, rain, peanut) to the heavens-(weather, stratosphere, & stars) Wow
2. Rom 1:19,20 creation showing power and godhead If man will study nature- will see God
3. If man will look into the Face of God- Jesus- Rom 1:16,17 The Gospel known by faith

B.  MAN WHILE A BABE GLORIFIES GOD, AND A LITTLE CHILD LEADS IN FAITH & DEVOTION

1. By nature, in the heart of every little child is a faith in God- but we corrupt it, & pollute it
2. Missionaries tell us that their little babies often are the ones to open hearts of natives
3. Little children came to Jesus- but it was grown men who crucified him-Even man's offspring glorifies God

C.  THE GLORIES OF GOD'S CREATION LEAVE OUR MINDS SWIMMING, AND SHOULD PREPARE US FOR HIM

1. v.3 We think we are smart- but the ancient had star charts-knowledge hidden till 20^th Century
2. With our greatest scientific instruments- we see a creation Ordered by God- Stars perfect
3. Latest "Action" reports astronomer- finding area of heavens where God is still creating! 

But when we see all the greatness of God's creation & our eyes come back to man -a question

II.  THE GREATEST QUESTION ??? v.4

The contrast by our own experience is so great it staggers our minds - what is man?

A.   WHAT IS MAN THAT GOD IS MINDFUL OF HIM? WHY SHOULD GOD GIVE ALL HIS GLORY TO MAN - WORM?

1. The Heb word for man-shows frailty- I am a worm- We are the worst of God's creation-
2. Everything man attempts, he kicks apart before he finishes it- Total depravity reaches all
3. But with all our faults- GOD HAS GIVEN US THE UNIVERSE to have dominion over His works!

B.  AND THE SON OF MAN THAT THOU VISITEST HIM? Jesus, made lower than the angels- yet is God!

1. In this the human, Adamic, nature of Jesus is declared- in form of a man-humbled Himself
2. Yet to lead us all to complete dominion over all creation- Heb 2:8c- not quite yet, soon!
3. Though all creation obeyed Jesus-fish, water, loaves - yet base mankind is not yet housebroken

C.  MADE A LITTLE LOWER THAN THE ANGELS, YET DOMINION OVER ALL, AND ALL THINGS UNDER HIS FEET 5,6

1. This applies directly to Jesus- Cf. Ps 2, but also to redeemed man-ruler of all, dominion
2. I have heard pastors say Man can NEVER reach the moon- But he did & glorified God in it!
3. In every area of science, man is conquering all things but HIMSELF! Power for Military - but no.

The basic flaw- SIN. From within man comes depravity to lose all, though conquering all.

III.  THE GREAT CONQUEST - Ps 8:7-9

We cannot but be amazed with man's exploits in our own lifetime- beyond imagination!

A.  MADE TO HAVE DOMINION OVER SHEEP & OXEN, BEASTS OF THE FLELD, BUT WEAK TOWARD HIMSELF - v.7

1. Sheep and Oxen long domesticated- now American buffalo- & wild pets of all kinds -
2. Now we track the Polar Bear with satellites; Milk the poison from Bushmasters & cobra-
3. But we cannot govern our own world- Not with reason, nor force, nor emotion, nor faith!

B.  MADE TO HAVE DOMINION OVER THE FOWL OF AIR, AND PATHS OF THE SEA - v.8

1. Whether we use Falcons to hunt, or Dolphins to carry tools in sub lab- for food or work.
2. In our lifetime- 13 miles down in sea; and flying even bedstead- no limit in air-Cities?
3. But in depth of heart -sudden storm! unpredictable- Anger can fly high-death & destruction

C.   THE GREATEST GLORY IS IN THE CONQUEST OF MAN'S OWN NATURE BY GOD'S LOVE & SALVATION!

1. Heb 2:10-Jesus is Captain of our Salvation.-bringing many Sons to Glory- you cannot conquer self, but God will help you - make you act like son-
2. Heb 2:3-no escape if we neglect this Salvation - Then Hell to save Heaven from unsaved man.-
3. Let Jesus probe depth of your heart-cleanse- & let Him lift your dreams to heaven  -not hell

IF YOU WILL JOIN WITH GOD, YOU SHALL HAVE DOMINION OVER EARTH & SPACE - ENJOY IT!

CONCLUSION - BUT THE QUESTION IS, WHO ARE YOU THAT, THOUGH GOD LOVES YOU, YOU SHOULD THWART HIS PLAN FOR YOU?

1. Unless you are saved, you are indeed lower than a worm, & will get dirt in your face-
2. If you are saved- you have excitement of helping God subdue the earth- & Space-
3. And your greatest job of all is to win other souls to Jesus- so that God's love can include them!
